What Are “Sneaky Thoughts”?
Sneaky thoughts are the ones that sound true…but they actually keep you stuck.
They’re automatic, you repeat them over and over again, and they feel like hard core facts, even when they’re not.
You might recognize a few of these:
- “I’ll start fresh Monday.”
- “I’m too tired to deal with this today.”
- “I always fall off track eventually.”
- “I’ve tried everything and nothing works for me.”
- “What’s the point? It never sticks.”
They seem harmless and you believe them. This is how they shape your behavior.
It’s when your behavior doesn’t match your goals is when you start feeling like a failure — even though it’s your thoughts that are leading the way.
🔄 How Thoughts Create Your Results
Let’s break it down:
- Thought: “I’m too tired.”
- Feeling: Defeated or overwhelmed
- Action: Skip your shake, skip the walk, scroll your phone instead
- Result: Still tired, still stuck
Now compare that to:
- Thought: “I can make one good choice today.”
- Feeling: Hopeful, in control
- Action: You make a shake, drink some water, go for a 10-minute walk
- Result: More energy, more momentum, and a better mood
✨ This is the power of one thought.
Step One: Awareness
You don’t have to “fix” every thought. You just need to be aware of them.
Next time you feel stuck or tempted to quit, ask yourself:
“What am I telling myself right now?”
Then follow up with:
- Is this helping or hurting?
- Is it true… or just familiar?
Step Two: Gentle Shifts
Going from “I’m so behind” to “I love everything about myself” is way too big of a leap.
Start with small shifts like:
- “I’m learning to take care of myself.”
- “Progress, not perfection.”
- “One small win is still a win.”
- “I’m figuring this out.”
These thoughts lead to different actions — and better results.
